"The Landing - Music that lets the moment in."

"Featuring the double-threat lead of the Brothers Jackson (Hammond and guitar respectively), the Landing inject heavy heavy Hammond funk, boogaloo and dancefloor jazz with an electrifying dose of spontaneous group improvisation, hypnotic beat poetry and declamatory call-and-response chanting. The result? Enough electricity to keep the Landing light on for several funky millennia yet to come..."

Bio:

Jake and Andy hooked up some 10 years ago, when Andy responded to an increasingly desperate series of adverts for the proverbial 'funky drummer'. The initial result was Blue Juice, a Hammond boogaloo trio in the classic Blue Note tradition of Big John Patton, Reuben Wilson and Jimmy McGriff. Blue Juice enjoyed initial success in Manchester and Liverpool, but as Jake and Andy each pursued other projects on the northwest jazz and funk scenes, the desire grew to do something new with what was (by now) a 40-year-old genre.

Increasingly drawn to the great James Brown rhythm section sound, Jake drafted in his guitarist brother Garry, and a second guitarist - rhythm player extraordinaire David Wilkinson. With the assistance of electric bassist (and child prodigy) Joel, a new sound was born, and 'Peace, Love & Wah' (named after Garry's custom wah pedal) made their debut in the band's hometown of Lancaster early in 2005.

Fast forward a year and the renamed 'The Landing' (the band writes, rehearses and records on Jake's landing) are bringing their distinctive and highly original sound to clubs and festivals right across the north of England.

What they said:

"Sublime, subterranean beatnik funk - like a road trip on acid..." (Off The Beat)

"Electrifying, exciting, crazy, crazy fun. Music to satisfy the dancefloor and the mind" (Lancaster Guardian)

"Listen to the vibe, the funky funky vibe..." (Garry Jackson!)
