Davy, Kevin

Jazz Improviser, band-leader, composer and trumpeter. (in Manchester of KDQ, D'semble, Cross-Channel Band). Kevin Davy, emerged from the Manchester Jazz scene of the late eighties, and early 90s. Based out of Hulme, and working all over Manchester, leading band line ups, and hosting freejazz jam sessions, at Band On The Wall, and PJ Bells, over the years working with many of the prominent jazz musicians in the city. The mainstays of the KDQ group, are in the current line up. Davy is perhaps best known for work with Lamb, Adam F, and other major recording artists.There has also been work with musicians in France, Switzerland and Germany etc, including; Pibo Marquez(Venezuela), Sangoma Everett(USA), Shiek Tidiane Sek(Mali), Kresimir Debski(Warsawa, Poland), Roman Rahout(Poznan, Poland) Paul Shigihara(Koln, Germany), and Doudou Gouirand(France). Davy's trumpet playing has featured on albums by Japanese producer Sugizo, US vocalist Melissa Kaplan, Crass Collective and Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Davy has performed on many festivals: Montreaux, North Sea, Cully, Espoo, Vaulx Jazz, and New York Summerstage. In 1992, Kevin Davy was voted Jazz Musician of the Year by Manchester BBC GMR Radio's People programme.
