Denis draws inspiration from a wide range of traditional, song-based music, inventively blending these influences with modest experimental electronics. Whilst striving to maintain a song writing philosophy that generates a pure emotional response, Denis never overcomplicates this process and, even with the technical appeal of the live performance, he remains true to the initial drive of emotive creativity. Comparisons have been drawn with 'One World' era John Martin mixed with Tunng and re-assembled through a Basic Channel filter. In recent years Denis has played regularly around the country, including current support slots for Coco Rosie, Ella Guru, Steve Tilston, Bent, Okkervil River, The Boats, Merz, Jack Rose and Chris Corsano.
