Nice, Barbera

Mrs Barbara Nice

The Much-Loved Mother Of Comedy

A cross between Victoria Wood and Janis Joplin

 The Stage

Now booking for autumn/winter 2006 & spring 2007!

Barbara Nice - ordinary housewife extraordinaire – has given up the domestic bliss of Tupperware and Poundstretcher shops for the unpredictability of the comedy circuit (her husband thinks she’s at the bingo). No audience is too rowdy for her to handle - she's already raised five teenagers. She believes in bargains, Take a Break magazine, getting the most from life. Oh and stage-diving! This well observed comedy character is so likeable that she draws even the most cynical of audiences and takes them along for the ride.

The funniest thing we’ve seen

The Guardian

Recently seen supporting Johnny Vegas, Peter Kay, Dave Spikey and Patrick McGuinness, Barbara is also a popular act in her own right and one of the most experienced comperes in the country. She has performed critically acclaimed one woman shows at London’s Soho Theatre, Edinburgh’s The Stand and Gilded Balloon, Brighton’s Komedia and Pavilion Theatre and Manchester’s The Lowry. Charity performances include The Royal Albert Hall with Peter Kay, Funny Women at The Cafe de Paris London with Sandi Toksvig, and The Royal Court with Sir Ian McKellen and Jo Brand. Barbara was part of The Manchester Evening News nominated Comedy Tour of The Year 2004 Jumping on The Bandwagon with fellow Phoenix Nights cast members - playing to capacity audiences nationwide.
