Barras, Gavin
Gavin Barras received jazz bass tuition from Steve Berry (Loose Tubes, Django Bates etc) and classical bass tuition from Tom Goodman (LSO) during his time at Manchester University. He graduated from the University in 2002. Since then he has performed and recorded with a number of local and national jazz players including guitarists Stuart McCallum and Mike Outram, trumpeters Neil Yates, Mark Armstrong and Richard Illes, Pianists Les Chisnell and John Ellis, saxophonists Andy Schofield, Pete King and Martin Speake. Gavin has performed at many national festivals including the Manchester, Wigan, Glasgow, Brecon and Edinburgh jazz festivals. Gavin plays regularly on the Manchester Jazz circuit as well as performing all over the UK.
