CHRIS RAND'S GATHERING
"A self-confessed Rock 'n' Roller, who flirts with Jazz" is how Jazzwise described Chris Rand's debut album 'Gathering', released in 2016 on Dot Time Records.
Chris is a Sax player with a powerful sound, steeped in emotion. It is with much anticipation that Chris is bringing his band back together this year to record his second solo album, due to be released later this year.
Chris had a busy 2017 on tour with Squeeze and Nine Below Zero, supporting Sting, as well as sharing the stage with Wilko Johnson, The Yardbirds and The Stranglers. He's also recently worked with the likes of Mick Taylor, Dennis Chambers, Jools Holland, Lu Lu, Charlie Watts and Bad Manners. His passion for Rock 'n' Roll and the Blues truly developed during his time playing in the Ben Waters Band; since then, Chris has gone on to make a name on the London scene, being often compared to a young Bobby Keys.
As a band leader Chris brings together friends and musicians who have inspired and influenced his playing over the the years.
"A debut album that packs quite a punch" - Jazzwise
"A true musician's musician" - Blues & Soul Magazine
Chris is thrilled to be returning to Manchester with his Trio, following a sell-out show performing with Squeeze at Bridgewater Hall last year. He will be playing tunes from he last album as well as a set of rock 'n' roll to get you all dancing on a Wednesday night!
