Named as "One of the UK's hottest Jazz acts" by Metro Newspaper, JJ Wheeler Quintet have taken the scene by surprise with their unique blend of old-school and contemporary Jazz, mixing non-Jazz influences with the legacy of greats such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Art Blakey. Young, fresh and energetic, the drummer-led group were featured as part of the BBC Proms 2011 series with a live recording from the Royal Albert Hall broadcast on BBC Radio 3, as well as several tours and festival dates throughout the year. This Spring they return with a six-date tour to promote the much anticipated debut album, Unconventional, and will be playing their only North-West date here at Matt & Phred's.
