Michael Cretu
Michael is an amazing Transylvanian double bass player, guaranteed to delight you with his wonderful traditional folk style jazz. His original compositions include a crossover of jazz, classical and gypsy elements.
Throughout 2011 Michael has been very busy working with his trio (Drummer Myke Wilson and Pianist George King) and also performing as a solo artist. Cretu is part of a project financed by European Community to promote new music and so far has seen concerts In Paris-Cite des Arts, London-Romanian International Culture Institute, Cluj Conservatoire -Transylvania, Bucharest- Radio Grand Hall, and the Contact Theatre Manchester.
Other highlighted gigs during 2011 included Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, London Jazz Festival, Pisa Main Square-Italy, and a 2 week residency at The ZOO Theatre for the duration of Edinburgh Festival.
