Born out of the snake pit of LS6 house parties, Vipertime draw from the depths of spiritual jazz, afrobeat and post punk to create improvised music for the dance floor, combining the mesmeric forms and harmonies of 70s Addis with the ferocity of 60s Detroit.
Vipertime make their Matt and Phred's debut performing material from their EP 'All Our Heroes are Dead' and their upcoming album as well as deep cuts from Count Ossie, Mulatu Astatke and Pharoah Sanders. Their unique line up of saxophone, bass guitar and two drummers is a vehicle for band leaders Ben Powling and Matias Reed to explore their influences and create a compelling fusion of jazz, punk and African musical styles.
Ben Powling - saxophone/flute
Matias Reed - bass guitar
Charlie Grimwood - drums
Luke Reddin Williams - drums
